Our campus will host memorial services for Officer Corona on Friday, January 18, at the ARC Pavilion at 11 a.m. Several streets in and around the downtown area will be closed off, and many campus parking lots will be closed for the day.
Classes will not be affected, but with the anticipated high volume of traffic and parking severely restricted, I would like to respectfully ask that you please avoid driving your car to campus on Friday. If at all possible, please bike, walk, ride Unitrans—which will be free to the community all day, take Yolobus, the train or some other form of transport.
Officer Corona’s family requested that her memorial service be held here because Davis is the community she loved and was so dedicated to serving. This tragedy has had a profound effect on the campus and City of Davis communities, and I know that the outpouring of support has been heartening to the Corona family and the Davis Police Department. On Friday, helping to keep the roads clear will be the best way to support your community and those traveling to Davis from out of town to attend the memorial service.
After the service, Officer Corona’s procession will continue on to her final resting place in her hometown of Arbuckle.
Thank you, Aggies.
