Connect as a Greek

5 Things You Can Do to Join Sorority and Fraternity Life

Becoming part of sorority and fraternity life can be a great way to build lifelong connections, make friends, learn leadership or event management skills and get involved with community service projects during your time at UC Davis. Here’s five things you can do to join.

1. Educate yourself on sorority and fraternity life

Each of UC Davis’ chapters are tied to one of six governing councils, plus most are affiliated with an international, national or regional organization. Find out how the UC Davis fraternity or sorority you’re interested in is connected both within and outside the UC Davis community. Plus, it wouldn’t hurt to learn the Greek alphabet while you’re at it.

2. Find the right chapter for you

UC Davis is home to more than 65 sororities and fraternities, each of which are distinct. The best way to find the fraternity or sorority that best matches your interests is to visit the Sorority and Fraternity Life website. Each chapter has its own page, which you access through their council page, where you can find information and connect through social media to see what they do on a day-to-day basis.

3. Learn more about how to pledge

The recruitment process varies for each fraternity and sorority at UC Davis. So visit the Join! page for each council to connect with a representative from the sorority or fraternity you’re interested in. They can tell you about their recruitment process and any important dates. The Office of Sorority and Fraternity Life also has a great FAQ page that answers a lot of questions about pledging.

4. Attend Greek Week

Every spring, the sororities and fraternities of UC Davis get together for a week-long series of events to raise awareness of Greek life on campus and to raise money for Cal Aggie Camp, a student-run summer camp for children in need.

5. Stay connected

You can stay up on Greek life at UC Davis by signing up for the Office of Sorority and Fraternity Life’s community newsletter. You can also follow them on Instagram and Twitter at @UCDavisOSFL or Like them on Facebook. Have a specific question? Visit OSFL’s Contact Us page, or reach out to one of their staff members.
