Fall quarter is here! Events You Don't Want to Miss
There's no better way to kick off the new academic year than Fall Welcome: a celebration of YOU and your arrival at UC Davis.
So whether you are a new or returning Aggie, please join us at these Fall Welcome events and activities that begin with Move-in Weekend in September and last through Homecoming weekend in mid-October.
Saturday and Sunday, September 22 and 23
At the beginning of every school year, thousands of students—just like you—make their way to their new home of UC Davis. Unpack your bags, hug loved ones goodbye, meet your roommate(s), check out your new digs and explore your new home! Watch a video about some first-year students’ move-in weekend experience.
This is THE event if you are interested in going Greek. Co-sponsored by the Office of Sorority and Fraternity Life and UC Davis Athletics, The Xperience hosts a ton of friendly competitions and gives students the chance to learn more about Greek life at UC Davis.
Aggie Welcome Rally
Sunday, September 23, 8-9 PM
You’re an Aggie now! Join a few thousand of your new friends for fun, free stuff and lots and LOTS of Aggie Pride. Watch a video of the Aggie Welcome Rally.
Sunday, September 23, 9-11 PM
Pass the popcorn, dim the lights and settle in to watch a movie on the Pavilion’s big screen.
Find Your Classes Tour
Monday, September 24, 11:30am – 12:30pm
Need to know the shortest way to get to your classes before the first day? Afraid of getting lost in the “Death Star?” If you want the best tips and tricks for navigating campus, which is the largest in the UC system, come take a walking tour with an residence hall advisor and peer mentor. Get specifics on this year’s tours. Don’t forget walking shoes, water and your CLASS SCHEDULE!
New Student Celebration
Monday, September 24, Pavilion at the ARC, 3-5 PM
If you’re new to UC Davis, this is THE event you don’t want to miss. This event is jam-packed with student performances that have enough energy, excitement, fun and Aggie Pride to kick-start the school year.
New Student Resource Fair
Monday, September 24, Hutchison Field, 5–8 PM
Get to know your new home, enjoy live music and food, and score free T-shirts and prizes. Sponsored by Student Housing and Dining Services, this fair gives students the chance to learn about campus services, resources and departments.
Glow Run and Sunset Fest
Monday, September 24, Hutchison Field, 9 PM
Want some nighttime exercise? The annual Illuminite Glow Fun Run/Walk is a chance for students run or walk a 2.4-mile course at night! To ensure you get a complimentary glow stick, register for this free event at an Area Service Desk. Another event you don’t want to miss is Sunset Fest, a free concert to welcome all new and returning UC Davis students. Get ready for a killer student showcase with live music, dance performances and a hot-ticket headliner to close out Welcome Week.

Meet other transfer students, access key resources and enter raffles and giveaways as you begin your transition to UC Davis.

Ice Cream Socials
Wednesday, October 3, Wellman Hall Lawn, 12 – 2pm
Have a sweet treat on us! Student Affairs serves up ice cream, fun and games for all students who get the scoop (pun intended!) on First-Year Aggie Connections. This program is a great way for new students (freshmen, transfer and international students) to get connected at UC Davis. Other departments and clubs around campus also often dish out treats during their Fall Welcome open houses.

Want to get involved? Learn about 200-plus student organizations and campus departments and all they have to offer, including activities, service projects and programs.
Friday, October 12, Downtown Davis, 4:30-7:30 p.m.
Discover Davis, hosted by the Davis Chamber of Commerce and the Cal Aggie Alumni Association, brings new and returning UC Davis students and others from the UC Davis community to downtown Davis to learn more about area businesses. With 40-plus businesses handing out coupons and swag giveaways, plus entertainment from the Band-uh!, it’s a great start to your Homecoming weekend!
Friday, October 12, Davis Amtrak Station, 5:30–7 PM
Note: You can also join the pajama parade to the train station; meet at Davis Central Park at 4:30 p.m.
This more than 100-year-old homecoming tradition continues as pajama-clad students, led by the Student Alumni Association, parade through downtown Davis to the Davis Amtrak train station to greet returning alumni the night before Homecoming. The Band-uh! is always in attendance and there is usually free food and games. Watch a video of the 100th Pajamarino.
Saturday, October 13, Aggie Stadium, TBD
Wear your Aggie blue and gold and get ready to cheer on the UC Davis men’s football team at the Homecoming game.
