Dining Commons

Student Housing operates 17 residence halls totaling 34 buildings which are distributed among three areas of campus: Segundo, Tercero and Cuarto. All areas offer shared indoor and outdoor space, dining commons, laundry facilities, academic support and computer resources.

Segundo Dining Commons

Segundo is a collection of fourteen residence halls which approximately 1,600 residents call home. The Segundo Services Center houses the area service desk, the academic advising center, computer center, the Junction and an assortment of study spaces. The dining commons are located in a state-of-the-art building in the southwest corner of Segundo.

Tercero Dining Commons

Tercero is a centrally located home to approximately 1,400 students within its 15 buildings. The Tercero Services Center houses the dining commons, a game room, area service desk, academic advising center, computer center, multiple lounges and study rooms. Tercero's large lounge can be used for group activities, including large functions and community movie nights.

Cuarto Dining Commons

Home to approximately 1,500 students, Cuarto residents have access to the area service desk and an academic advising center in Thoreau Hall, a computer center in Castilian Hall, a computer center and game area in Emerson Hall and the dining commons. All halls offer multiple lounges and study rooms.


When you're out and about on campus and the hunger pains strike, stop by any of these restaurants for a meal or a quick bite to eat.

Carl's Jr. @ the Silo

Carl's Jr. is always busy and serves the most customers out of all the restaurants in the Silo Union. If you're looking for a breakfast sandwich, charbroiled burger, chicken sandwich or one of those delicious milkshakes, then you know Carl's Jr. is the place to go.

Coffee House a.k.a the CoHo

The Coffee House rocks! If you're looking for pho or want a place to grab a bite with friends, the CoHo is the place to be. They serve sushi, pizza, pasta, made-to-order salads, bagels, breakfast burritos, nachos, and an ever-changing menu of things mom would make like chicken tetrazzini or quiche. Those are just a few of the menu items that the student kitchen creates six days a week.

CoHo South Café @ the Student Community Center

The CoHo South Café is home of the Chili Stack, a tasty tower of chili and cornbread. You can also pick up a pastry coffee, breakfast or lunch sandwich or a beverage.

Crossroads @ Cuarto

Crossroads is located on the first floor of the Cuarto Dining Commons. Crossroads may be entered either from an exterior door on the north side of the Cuarto Dining Commons (closest to Emerson Hall), or from within the dining commons.

Grab & Go @ the Silo

The name says it all! Grab & Go is perfect for that a quick bite when you're in a hurry. They serve wholesome food including Panini Time wraps, sandwiches, salads, protein trays, yogurt parfaits and fresh fruit. If you're thirsty, you can choose some an assortment of drinks.

Gunrock Pub @ the Silo

Gunrock Pub is the only full-service restaurant and bar on campus, centrally located in the historic Silo Union building. A uniquely UC Davis campus destination restaurant, featuring a “homegrown," dynamic and diverse menu uniquely highlighted by campus-produced foods, ingredients from local growers, craft brewers and local vintners. La Crepe @ the Silo

Ooh la la! Come for one of the more than 50 specialty crepes and stay for the show as you watch Chef Michel make your crepe right before your eyes. The hardest choice is deciding which crepe (vegetarian and meat options available) to order and whether it's too early for a dessert crepe. (Psst! The answer is its never too early!)

Pizza Hut @ the Silo 

Sometimes there is nothing like the familiar! Pick up a personal pan pizza, chicken wings and breadsticks at Pizza Hut Express.

Shah’s Halal Food Truck @ the Silo

Don't let the long line deter you! The Shah’s Halal Food Truck is a favorite on campus for a reason, their Mediterranean cuisine features grilled lamb or chicken sandwiches and rice platters. And really the line moves quickly!

Silo Sandwiches @ the Silo 

Forget about soggy bread and gross vegetables…you deserve a sandwich in a hurry made with farm fresh vegetables and perfectly baked breads. Your Silo Sandwich will be the best when you combine it with a warm cup of Campbell’s soup.

Star Ginger Asian Food Truck @ the Silo

Star Ginger brings a taste of Southeast Asia to campus. The food is tasty, served quickly and gives you a chance to enjoy the sunshine and eat your lunch outside the Silo.

Taco Bell  @ the Silo

Make a run for the border after class when you step into Taco Bell. All the favorites you know and love are here!

Coffee & Snacks

Need a quick pick-me-up? Stop by one of the many snacking areas around campus offering coffee, fruits and other food items to get you through the day.

Bio Brew @ The Sciences Labs

Located in the north-west corner of the Sciences Lab Building, BioBrew is the café of choice for that quick caffeine rush. Proudly brewing Starbuck’s coffee you’ll also enjoy freshly baked pastries, bagels and fresh fruit.

Junction @ Segundo

From bottled beverages to gum to Gunther's ice cream, you’ll be glad you stopped to refuel. The convenience store is a great alternative to traveling off-campus for your favorite snacks and essential items. Even greater, you have great flexibility in how you wish to pay for such items.

Scrubs Café @ The Med Building B

When you're over near the medical science buildings and your stomach growls, don't panic! Scrubs Café serves a variety of home-made classics and some new favorites along with coffee and breakfast foods.

Starbucks @ the Silo

If your day doesn't start until you've had your "Tall, nonfat latte with sugar-free vanilla syrup," then you'll need to make the on-campus Starbucks your first stop. If you're not a coffee drinker but are looking to satisfy a sweet tooth or fill your empty stomach, Starbucks has an assortment of tasty treats.

Kick back and relax while studying or after a hard work out at the ARC. Starbucks at the ARC offers a full assortment of hot and blended beverages, as well as a scrumptious variety of fresh-prepared pastries and sandwiches.

The Swaggie

The Swaggie, located adjacent to the Carlson Health Sciences Library, is a partnership with the Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association ( SCAVMA). The store sells soda, coffee, snacks, greeting cards, logo apparel, student supplies, and much more.

Swirlz @ The Coffee House - Memorial Union

Join the crowed to get a cup of coffee and the scone of the day at the CoHo. Or stop by after lunch for a piece of ying-yang cake and an espresso. You can even indulge in a smoothie, milkshake or double-scoop ice cream cone. The possibilities are endless! And during finals week, the CoHo helps to fuel those early morning study sessions with half-price coffee.

Got a craving for pretzels and sour gummi worms? Trudy's has got you covered! This mainstay is located near Tercero and is the perfect place for a quick snack.
